JFK Special School Beckton Consultation

Consultation on JFK Special School’s Significant Change application

JFK Special School is currently the only specialist provider in Newham for young autistic people. As such we are seeking DfE approval to reconfigure our current Beckton site and extend our provision for young people aged 11-19 from 60 to 80 places in the next year. Our proposal may also enable the offering for additional specialist places for Key Stage 2 learners.

The proposal aims to:

  • Remodel the existing entrance and large hall to a more appropriate space for physical activities, smaller dining areas and movement breaks. The current hall space is not efficient for effective transition and creates problems for some students moving from the bus to the classrooms.

Originally built for pupils with physical impairments, our site in Beckton is not purpose-built for our pupils with complex ASC needs. Reconfiguring our site will enable us to offer improved ‘built-in’ ASC resources as well as expand our current ASC pupil capacity. This proposal will allow us to extend our outreach to the local community in Newham by enabling more young people to access our outstanding specialist provision.

We value the views and opinions of all stakeholders. For this reason, we would be grateful if you could complete this survey:
