History of School
In 1964 the West Ham County Borough Health Committee opened the new John F Kennedy Centre. The Centre cost over £125,000 to build and boasted 5 light, airy classrooms as well as a large assembly hall and handicraft rooms. All the latest aids in education are included and there is also an indoor swimming pool for those suffering from physical difficulties
Jennie Lee MP said of the decision to name the centre after President Kennedy "I know he had had a special feeling for this field because one of his family had to have special treatment because of a physical handicap. Often we do our best work where there is a special ramp, a special, personal reason for helping in one field."
Some of the staff involved right at the beginning are still associated with the school and attended the 50th anniversary celebrations.
by Miss Pauline Collier - a teacher then and our Chair of Governors during the celebrations.
